What This Workbook Covers

Introduction to DBT and How to Use This Workbook
This section explains what DBT is, how the skills work together, and how to get the most out of your workbook. You do not need any prior knowledge of DBT to begin.

Mindfulness Skills
You will learn about the elements of mindfulness, practise ‘noticing’ or staying present and aware without judgment. These skills form the foundation of all other DBT skills and help you make clearer, more grounded decisions.

Emotion Regulation Skills
You will learn to identify, rate, and track your emotions. This section builds self-awareness and helps you understand the link between your thoughts, feelings, and actions. You will enhance your emotional literacy, build positive experiences, and increase your overall emotional resilience over time.

Interpersonal Effectiveness Skills
These skills help you communicate clearly, set boundaries, and maintain healthy relationships. Learn how to effectively ask for what you need, or say no, while building and growing respect for yourself and others.

Distress Tolerance Skills
These skills give you tools to get through difficult moments without making things worse. You will learn strategies to manage crisis situations and tolerate intense emotions in the short term.

Art-Based Activities
Creative exercises are woven throughout the workbook to help you apply each skill. Each activity is simple and guided — no art experience is needed.

Reflection and Monitoring Tools
Tracking pages and reflection prompts help you observe your progress, recognise patterns, and build on what you are learning week by week.
